Note: This is my first impression! I've only played for an hour or two for now. ๐
It seems like a shallow copy of Escape From Tarkov with some aggressive P2W. ๐ฅ
It has great Tarkov-like PvP and many quality-of-life improvements that Tarkov doesn't have. It's much more casual-friendly, but personally as Tarkov player of 3-4k hours, it doesn't intrigue me as much. That's why this review is not ideal.
It seems like I can buy everything from the "flea market" from the beginning and doing quests seem unnecessary without knowing better. In Tarkov, it feels important to progress the tasks and traders to get better gear and skills. Hence, making gameplay much better along the way as you progress.
Also, if I run out of money and not being able buy the best-in-slot gear, I can slide in my IRL credit card and buy more in-game money (and secure containers) without breaking a sweat. ๐ซค
I would compare it to a PUBG player playing TDM. Feels the same for me; Fun but a tad shallow and gets too repetitive after a while.
Nice experience, but with ABI, I don't get the same senseless motivation to grind through all the quests and waste thousands of hours on the way.
For me, it's more about the journey than it is about the destination. I'm sure many other people will have it the opposite way and then ABI is the perfect solution for you. ๐
The best of the best. Still needs some polishing and refining, but getting there! What's more fun than playing some good ol' CS with four of your buddies ๐
Legendary game from back in the day. Just bought the full version and enjoyed it a lot still.
Giving it a 10 as it is still so playable and the cutscenes are so well made considering the technology of 2001.
There might be some nostalgia involved but nevertheless, it aged quite well. ๐
Reviewing it by how I liked it back in the early 2000s.
It has grown old but it is still playable. Graphics are as good as you can imagine a game released in 2000 can have. Controls are pretty fine when you map them for your liking. I only now realized how strong tactic it is to lean from behind a corner in the game.
I only played the first five missions this time and the story is a bit superficial but all in all the missions are pretty well designed.
I think it was pretty much the first 3D game providing stealth gameplay and rewarding for not shooting the place up. I was able to do the first missions without alerting enemies. In that sense, it is a trailblazer for Splinter Cell and the like.
Initially gave this game a higher rating, but it ran out of content and it failed to awaken my inner motivation after a few days of playing.
Everything felt repetitive and I didn't really figure out why I should cut thousands of trees or mine heaps of rocks. Maybe I'm getting old, but in most of my previous MMORPGs I have instantly wanted to grind my way up to the top and improve my gear etc. Don't know why I didn't get that feeling or willingness this time.
The combat felt good and mechanically it was nice. I died a lot when fighting too high level monsters, though.
I'll probably return after they update the game a fair bit.
