Atomic Heart

So far all released DLCs to Atomic Heart were nothing but disappointment. The Annihilation Instinct DLC continues the main story, but out of 2 possible endings of main story developers chose to continue the wrong one. Developers apparently mentioned that this is not canonical ending. Probably will leave normal ending for the Atomic Heart 2, as it affects world in a much more profound way. What this DLC is essentially a new location, a couple of new weapons, new glove ability, 2 more enemies and one new boss. Doesn't feel like it's part of the game, looks more like they reassembled leftovers that were cut from main game and bundled them together. Trapped in Limbo DLC is just the worst. It includes more of platforming in Limbo area with grotesque visuals and no point being there. It's more of the least interesting part of the main game. It's not moving story forward, there are no interesting mechanics. When I played the game all I wanted is to complete this part and return to the normal game. It has low rating in Steam and players describe it as "2 hours of nonsense garbage". Today Mundfish teased the 3rd DLC that will seem to be set in Neptune underwater station that was already revealed at some point in the main game. Hope it'll be less of a nonsense and more of a Soviet science complex areas, robots and monsters. Apparently you'll spend some time underwater and even meet some sea creatures. Third time's a charm?

Atomic Heart (2023)

Great visuals, art design and lights. Design of every interior is gorgeous, the game was clearly inspired by Prey and Bioshock. Open world part is way less impressive, and infinitely respawning enemies making it even worse. I beat Atomic Heart two times. During the first playthrough I was only follow the story and most of the abilities. After that I was thinking the game worth 7/10. Decided to see the second ending and went for the second walkthrough, entering every testing ground and immediately felt similarity with Portal games, where you need to solve physics puzzles inside testing chambers. After visiting dozen of testing chambers it seemed like in the first playthrough I missed at least half of the game. Also unlocked all abilities and some of them make game way easier compared to me just shooting everything at first. What's good: - Story and (some) characters - Visuals - Interior designs - Puzzles What's not good: - Some puzzles are annoying - Worst implementation of snake game in history - Infinitely respawning enemiesSee more reviews for Atomic Heart

Trying all abilities the game has to offer during my second playthrough. Turns out, mass telekinesis is the ultimate ability that makes mass battles a piece of cake. No shortage of ammo whatsoever because you only shoot at stronger enemies and bosses.

Ballet seems like a running theme in the game. Russian ballerinas are indeed the best ❤️

Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era

The team behind Olden Era has revealed a new Arena mode, designed to bring fast, dynamic battles to the forefront of gameplay. Responding to community feedback, this mode skips traditional elements like castle building, resource gathering, and map exploration. Instead, players jump straight into the action, drafting their heroes, troops, artifacts, and spells in a quick five-minute setup before diving into a decisive battle. Inspired by the Hot Seat Duel Mode from HoMM 5, Olden Era’s Arena takes the concept further with full customization and balance improvements. Players can draft from a selection of heroes, level up skills, and pick artifacts, all while ensuring fairness through carefully balanced systems. Whether battling AI or other players, the mode is designed to provide exciting, bite-sized gameplay sessions that are perfect for newcomers and veterans alike. Arena also introduces competitive features, including a separate rating system and matchmaking, adding a fresh challenge for seasoned players. It’s a fast, accessible way to enjoy the game, whether you’re short on time or want to sharpen your skills in quick, intense battles. More details on Arena’s competitive ladder system will be shared in an upcoming devlog.

StarCraft II

That feeling you have when you just finished an amazing game. With StarCraft II that feeling I have once in a while when I replay all the campaigns. Too bad the story is over and in a way I'm glad there are no spin offs or some other crap like World of StarCraft. There is not much space for story rich games in the modern gamedev. There is also less and less demand for competitive real-time strategy games, all that market was consumed with MOBAs. Not many players out there want to spend hundreds of hours just to even stand a chance against other players. Having such good in size and quality single-player part is too expensive nowadays. Those shy attempts to revive an RTS market don't even try to include campaign or a story because creating balanced PvP game is already challenge on its own. I will revisit StarCraft story in the future, hoping there won't be any Reforged failures that will take the original game from me.
