This week I have been playing around with my new monitor: ASUS PG32UCDM, and I have some thoughts to share! First, I have been analyzing the differences between 32 and 27 inch monitors (I used to play with 27 inch 1440p monitor for years). For me 32" is great for gaming, especially for story-based single player games. However, I personally think it can also be used for competitive gaming if you have a deep enough desk so that you can push it pretty far (my recommendation is to have at least 80cm deep desk). The best part of the bigger size is that all content (videos, streams and movies etc.) are far superior with the larger size, and you can't change my mind about this! Secondly, I used to think 4k resolution is useless for 27 inch monitors, but even now with the 4k in this 32" size I see a clear difference. For the record the pixel densities are 27" 1440p: 109 PPI 32" 4k: 138 PPI So in theory it's not that much but even there I do see the difference. Then finally OLED for gaming: I'm a believer. I simply think it's the best technology we have today if you have the money and want to get the best panel type that exists. TL;DR - 4k 32" high refresh rate OLED for gaming (ASUS PG32UCDM) Pros - Great for story-based single player games - Great for all sorts of content (videos, movies streams) - Works well also for productivity stuff, so I recommend if you are looking for one monitor for both gaming and productivity stuff Cons - Not the best for competitive gaming, but works well enough. - Price As you can see I would recommend for most people!
Congratz to NAVI for winning IEM Rio 2024! 😎 🎉
Unfortunately it's not looking too good for Shroud's new game Spectre Divide. Looks like the studio is letting go 13 employees only a few weeks after the game launched. Unfortunately making a new hit game remains to be difficult :/ https://www.dexerto.com/gaming/shrouds-spectre-divide-dev-team-hit-with-layoffs-weeks-after-launch-2911312/
IGN is reporting that a new Battlefield game is in the works by EA, and it will finally be returning to a modern setting. I'm pretty excited! https://www.ign.com/articles/exclusive-first-battlefield-concept-art-revealed-vince-zampella
GZ to Blinky for winning the GeoGuessr World Cup 2024! It was an absolutely insane grand finale. Script writers were definitely working overtime. WP to the silver medalist MK as well. https://liquipedia.net/geoguessr/Blinky
Looks like PlayStation 5 Pro has been finally revealed! Unfortunately console gaming seems to be getting quite expensive though. PS5 Pro prices are: $699.99 USD £699.99 GBP €799.99 EUR Fortunately I remain mainly a PC gamer 😎 https://blog.playstation.com/2024/09/10/welcome-playstation-5-pro-the-most-visually-impressive-way-to-play-games-on-playstation/
The War Within has surpassed my expectations by a lot! It finally made WoW feel like WoW once again. I guess I'm mostly impressed about the story and focus in the old and beloved characters, but all the new zones and quests are nice too. Good job Blizzard!
Deadlock is a pretty good game! I'm totally not addicted 😊
Will this one be the Battlefield killer? I have to say it's looking really good, and even though many people are excited about the extraction mode, I have to say I'm more interested in seeing how the Conquest mode performs instead. Super cool to see many great looking games popping up lately! 🤗
Wukong is coming out in just 3 days on August 20th! Looks like China has finally been able to make a proper AAA game. And this is not actually the only one because there is at least Delta Force: Hawk Ops in development by one of the Tencent studios as well. It has nothing to do with this game, but to me this looks like a new beginning for the Chinese AAA development. Bring me some good games China!
Exciting things happening in the tactical shooter genre with Shroud's new game appearing in social media. Shroud himself has been streaming it during the past week and it's been gaining some traction. It has an interesting idea: It's a 3v3 tactical shooter but each player controls two "bodies" (characters) so effectively it's a 6v6 game. Also, there are some decisions that make it drastically different from CS2 and Valorant, for example there is no aim penalty when moving. In any case, I'm excited that someone is trying to innovate and come up with new cool ideas! Right now, this one seems a bit too radical to me with the 2-body system, but I still wish the best for it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0wXIu-HUq0

Btw I recommend 125% scaling for 32inch 4k monitors from Windows settings.
Scaling in Windows settings? Does it scale only Windows UI or everything, including games?
@walkindude It scales Windows UI and most apps. Games not so much, but usually they are designed to work well with different resolutions regardless.
@jyced Seems like it's a personal taste then to set scaling or not. Some people buy large monitors specifically to see more info at the same time 😉
