Things have escalated slightly! The community backlash was incredible regarding the Unheard edition of Tarkov. And rightfully so. Basically, what they did, in addition to introducing more pay-to-win elements to the game, was break the earlier promises given to Edge of Darkness edition owners. All DLC's should've been free for EoD owners, but they claim that the new PvE co-op mode is not a DLC and hence not available for them. Only to Unheard edition owners. Well, by definition it is a DLC. A purchasable additional content to the existing game. Now, think about being an Edge of Darkness player that has supported the game, which has been in alpha/beta since 2016, by buying the $150 edition of the game. Now when you log in, they have a permanent reminder tooltip in the menu screen that says I'd have to pay additional hundred bucks to access this game mode 😂 $250 for new players for a beta game... Even the interesting gameplay changes that came with the patch and listening to community's wishes have been undermined by this atrocious money grab from Battlestate Games. 😞 From the beginning, I had a suspicion from reading Reddit & Forums that they will have to do something to make things better for EoD owners as I've never seen such hatred towards BSG and Nikita, the COO / game director before. Even the strict r/EscapefromTarkov subreddit mods have allowed to post rants about the Unheard edition that normally are not allowed. Nikita just released a post in Reddit that says that EoD owners will get even more P2W features (that nobody asked for..) and also access to PvE co-op mode for 6 months! 🤯 Well, surprise surprise, that wasn't taken well either as I'm reading the comments.. 😅 Let's see what happens, but I'm pretty sure they will give the permanent co-op for EoD gamers too.. Here's my current Kappa progress in Escape from Tarkov's current wipe (v0.15.0.0). So all of these quests must be complete before getting the Collector quest from Fence that rewards you with the largest in-game secure container and the DEADSKUL armband. In addition to that, you have to collect all the streamer items shown in this list. I currently have 31/39 of those. So, I've been playing the new wipe a little again in Escape From Tarkov. Couldn't resist the temptation even though BSG & Nikita have done some questionable decisions during the previous wipe. 🙄 It's been as fun as usual. Quite a few nice-to-have updates, such as the new boss Partisan (pictured), cultist circle in your hideout to receive useful items through sacrifice and the newly revamped factory map. ✨ This is the first time for me to try out the updated armor system and it feels better. A nice balance between the old "strong" armor system but with more variability. 👍 Still, I was one-tapped to armpit by the Partisan even though I haven't even decreased my karma by hiding in the bushes! 🤯 The point of him is that he hunts down campers that have continuously been hiding in the bushes. There's a separate karma system for that. 😆 So there is the armpit hitbox but I think it's much smaller than before. Factory seems quite fresh and more interesting with the new additions. It's less linear but still well-recognizable. I was able to kill Tagilla and found out he had a new Viibiin sneaker in his backpack. A new streamer item for Kappa container quest, Collector, I'd assume? 🤔 There's the marathon mode too, which allows you to travel directly between maps without going to hideout in-between. Apparently you're able to stash items in-between, but I haven't tried that mode yet. There are plenty of new quests for that mode only. That's pretty much it. Otherwise pretty similar stuff than before. ⚠️ Tarkov Profiles Wiped in Major Technical Malfunction ⚠️ Again, shit happens in the world of Tarkov. 💩 Escape from Tarkov players are reeling after a massive technical malfunction wiped out profiles across the globe. 😱 Battlestate Games confirmed that this isn’t part of any planned event or wipe—just an unexpected bug that’s left players locked out of the game and, for many, starting from scratch. Players are reporting their accounts being reset mid-raid, losing all progress, gear, and even years of stats. With the planned wipe coming soon, the community is urging Battlestate to hit the reset button early and move forward with the update. Battlestate has acknowledged the issue, stating: 📝 "As a result of a technical malfunction there was a loss of part of the game profiles data. It is not possible to restore profiles in a short period of time. All players whose profiles have been affected will receive proportional in-game compensation in a short period of time." Escape From Tarkov devs AKA BattleState Games are at it again! 💣🐛 The latest patch introduced a nice little bug where each raid that ends reduces your trader reputation. 🫠 I’m sure it’ll get hotfixed quickly, but still it sounds pretty nasty and might slow down progress of some new players quite a bit. Apparently you can soon be rewarded for reporting cheaters in Escape From Tarkov 🤔 It’s still unclear what the reward will be but it’s a change they’re introducing in patch 0.14.9.5. 🚀 Exciting news for Escape From Tarkov fans! 🚀 The devs just teased an incredible rework of the Factory map, and it's shaping up to be a game-changer 🏭. In a sneak peek on X, game director Nikita Buyanov dropped two tantalizing screenshots. While not confirmed, it's clear this is the revamped Factory we’ve been waiting for, as it shares visual and spatial similarities with the current one. The new design features a dark, enclosed warehouse brimming with machinery. There’s a big dividing wall and multiple levels, much like the existing map, but with some significant upgrades. Expect to see big metal vats and plenty of smaller items, hinting at a focus on liquid production. The space looks more immersive and should breathe new life into the map 🌟. Despite the visual overhaul, the layout remains familiar with three levels: underground, main floor, and elevated walkways. Escape From Tarkov released a new trailer: On the Edge of Darkness It seems to tease the release AKA version 1.0 of the game: "Long time no see. Where you been? So you went to the Arena, but you came back anyway, huh, champ? Yes, you've changed. But we've got a lot going on here, too. The conflict in Tarkov is heating up again. And there's no telling how it's gonna end. Looks like you're gonna have to show us again, what you're worth, fighter. The one who walks will master the road, am I right? And who knows? Perhaps you will be the one to find a way to escape from Tarkov." To me, it's a bit ironic how they are showing levolution and the like instead of just focusing on fixing the current issues within their code. For example, the sound system needs rework and Nikita of BattleState Games promised that there will be no new features before v1.0. And this isn't just a small issue for a few HC players of Tarkov. I'd say most of the players I see in-game are EoD owners. It's such an good (or P2W) edition of the game that you really didn't want to miss out on. Also it promised the free access to all upcoming DLC's so there's that.. Their solution now seems to be the following: 1. Give EoD owners unheard edition for 6 months 2. Remove it -> Induce FOMO 3. Hope EoD owners pay $100 afterwards 👎
This goes to show how important it is to have a proper teams for marketing, strategy and PR for companies and games of this scale. They seem to be so out of touch on what is okay for the community or beneficial for the game. 🤷
- Another Tweet (nowadays called X) by BSG states that "PvE mode is a unique feature which is available only for the owners of The Unheard Edition" Again, community notes in Twitter / X state this below the post: "New game modes are generally accepted as DLC if put behind a paywall. Battlestate sold EOD with the promise that they would receive “free access to all subsequent DLCs”"
- Battlestate Games' PR team has gone mad. Arena Breakout Infinite took advantage of the situation and welcomed Tarkov players to their game. BSG replied by saying "Have a nice 20 minute adventure in the blatant plagiarist game. In and out" -> This was probably written by Nikita himself in rage. Twitter's / X community notes now state that this is false information and that it is only a competing game of the same genre.
"Video games cannot be sued for plagiarism for simply being a same or similar category or genre. BSG would need to prove that assets were taken from EFT and used directly in AB to begin legal claims of copyright infringement or plagiarism."
Oh and a few more things: - Nikita has even said that offline coop is an EoD feature 2 months ago. - They have removed "Unique" word from some old webpages that describes EoD features that are now also available in the Unheard edition. And of course, without editing the "Updated" timestamp. This is also illegal.
